Early Pregnancy Reassurance Scan
A gentle first glimpse from 6 weeks- 11 weeks
A Precious First Glance
For many families, this is the first opportunity to see their pregnancy on screen - a tiny glimpse at the very beginning of an incredible journey.
We want that moment to feel calm, personal and special, giving you time to enjoy your first glance together.
The early weeks of pregnancy can bring a mixture of excitement, anticipation and uncertainty. Our Early Pregnancy Reassurance Scan offers an opportunity to see your pregnancy from as early as 6 weeks, within the calm, private and welcoming surroundings of First Glance Ultrasound.
Available between 6 and 11 weeks of pregnancy, this non-diagnostic scan is designed to provide an early opportunity to visualise your pregnancy and enjoy that special first connection with your baby.
During your appointment, your sonographer will look to visualise the pregnancy and, where visible, show you your baby and cardiac activity. Depending on the stage of pregnancy and what can be visualised, objective measurements such as the gestational sac or Crown-Rump Length (CRL) may also be taken and shared with you.
As every pregnancy develops differently, what can be seen will depend on how many weeks pregnant you are, your individual circumstances and the limitations of ultrasound at an early stage.
Your Wellbeing Comes First
Our Early Pregnancy Reassurance Scan is a non-diagnostic private ultrasound experience and does not confirm or exclude miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, pregnancy viability or other pregnancy complications. It does not replace assessment, screening or medical care provided by the NHS.
If something cannot be visualised as expected, or your sonographer makes an unexpected or uncertain observation that requires further assessment, they will explain this sensitively and guide you through the appropriate next steps.
-
30 minute appointment time (including 15 minutes of scanning time)

In early pregnancy a transvaginal scan may be recommended to obtain the most accurate information.
This scan is provided for reassurance and keepsake purposes and offers an opportunity to see your pregnancy and what can be visualised at the time of your appointment. It is a non-diagnostic scan and does not replace NHS maternity care, screening, diagnostic ultrasound examinations or medical advice.
First Glance Ultrasound does not make or exclude medical diagnoses from this scan. If your sonographer makes an unexpected or uncertain observation that requires further assessment, this will be explained to you sensitively and you will be supported with the appropriate next steps.
Where further early pregnancy assessment is required, we have a direct referral process with the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, allowing you to access the appropriate NHS service for diagnostic assessment and clinical care.
