Pregnancy can pass incredibly quickly, and while your NHS appointments play an essential role in your maternity care, there are times when you simply want another opportunity to see your baby, watch them move and share that moment with the people you love. That's where First Glance comes in. Our private ultrasound clinic offers a range of non-diagnostic pregnancy scan experiences within a calm, comfortable and welcoming environment.
From early pregnancy reassurance and gender reveal scans through to 2D, 3D and 4D imaging and relaxed baby and sibling bonding experiences later in pregnancy, every appointment is designed to give you time to enjoy seeing your baby.
Experienced Sonographers
The experience we create may feel relaxed, but there are strong professional standards behind everything we do. Every First Glance scan is performed by an experienced sonographer who holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound and have experience practising within NHS ultrasound and maternity environments and bring that professional experience into every First Glance appointment.
We want you to feel comfortable asking questions, taking your time and enjoying the experience without feeling rushed.

Freya

Freya is a midwife with over six years of experience and has spent the last two working as a specialist Risk and Governance Midwife in the NHS. She holds a Masters Degree in Advanced Midwifery Practice. As a new Mum herself, she knows first hand how magical it feels to see your baby on the screen for the first time. Freya is passionate about helping families feel cared for, supported and comfortable when visiting the clinic. Freya’s role at First Glance Ultrasound is to make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so you can relax and enjoy your experience in our beautiful luxury clinic.
Reassurance, Bonding & Keepsake Scans
Our private ultrasound scans are provided for reassurance, bonding and keepsake purposes.
They are non-diagnostic and do not replace your NHS maternity pathway, including antenatal appointments, NHS screening programmes, diagnostic ultrasound examinations or medical care recommended by your midwife, GP, obstetrician or other healthcare professional.
We believe it's important to be completely clear about that distinction.
You should continue to attend all of your recommended NHS maternity appointments regardless of any private scans you have with us.
Safety Alongside the Experience
Providing a non-diagnostic service doesn't mean putting safety to one side.
If your sonographer makes an unexpected, uncertain or concerning observation during your appointment that requires further assessment, they will explain this sensitively and help you understand what happens next.
We won't provide a diagnosis or replace the role of your NHS maternity team. Instead, where appropriate, we'll support you in accessing the NHS service that can provide the necessary clinical assessment.
For early pregnancy concerns requiring further assessment, First Glance has a direct referral process with the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
This approach allows us to maintain a clear distinction between the special non-diagnostic experience we provide and the diagnostic assessment and medical care provided by NHS services, while always keeping your wellbeing at the centre of what we do.
